Lou Ciraldo, Summit Construction’s Founder and Chief Estimator, has spent over 20 years contributing to the world of education.

In 1989, Mr. Ciraldo began teaching higher education at his alma mater, The University of Akron.  As an adjunct professor of Building and Construction, he started teaching construction management courses through the Department of Engineering and Science Technology.

Students who participated in the program within the last 25 or so years may recognize Mr. Ciraldo from their time spent in Schrank Hall South on campus.  This coming August, he will be teaching construction management at the University once again.

In addition to college level courses, Mr. Ciraldo also teaches career education.  In January of this year, he began educating 7th graders through the Junior Achievement program at Bolich Middle School in Cuyahoga Falls.  Here, the students learn to navigate career path options, understand different “career clusters” and participate in engaging activities once a week.  Some class exercises include creating a personal brand, reading a career map, evaluating career possibilities and learning lessons in soft skills.

Mr. Ciraldo describes teaching as his avocation, and a way to pay forward the knowledge and experience he has acquired throughout the years to aspiring youth.

“It’s all about giving back, and you can give back to society in a number of different ways.” - Lou Ciraldo
