Chillicothe, Ohio
Early this spring, Chillicothe middle and high school students stepped outside their classrooms for a firsthand learning experience about careers in construction.
The career education walk-through took place inside the Chillicothe K-2 building currently under construction on Cherry and Mill Streets --and was led by Lou Ciraldo, Founder and chief estimator of SCC, Andy Rogers, SCC project executive for both the K-2 and 3-6 schools, and Creston King of Resource International, superintendent for the K-2 school.
Mr. Ciraldo, Mr. Rogers and Mr. King took turns leading the way and the conversation, educating students about career options in the industry, from coordinating and management to careers in the skilled trades.
The unique learning environment of an active construction project allowed for real visuals of a day in the life of a skilled tradesman or construction manager. The walk included point and talk education, blueprint reading, Q&A and of course—everyone’s very own hard hat.
At Summit Construction, career education is among our most valued ways to give back to the communities we have the pleasure of working with. The walk-through experiences are especially valuable, allowing students to step into a real world scenario to develop questions, interests and curiosities on their own.
