In 2024, Summit began site work for the Roundstone Athletic Center at Urban Community School. The 30,000 SF facility is the largest new project in UCS’s 2025 capital construction plans.
“Our capital construction activity in 2025 is all about West 47th,” said UCS President Thomas Gill. “We’re putting in a lot of investment there as the school continues to grow.” (NEO trans blog)
This ground-up athletic center includes a 19,000 SF pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with three full size athletic courts and open gymnasium space. The PEMB is attached to a traditional building with classrooms, offices, and locker rooms. The building will also serve as the new official headquarters of the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.

Alongside our partners at Kazcmar Architects, the Roundstone Athletic Center will be the fourth building since 2018 that Summit has served as CMR for to support UCS’s growth. Beginning with Urban Squash Cleveland, and the MetroHealth Ohio City Health Center and Early Childhood Education Centers in 2020. This exciting project for the UCS community is slated for completion in November of 2025.
2/25/25 Update from the Project Team:
- The pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) is being erected
- CMU walls for the traditional building are up to roof height
- 2nd floor steel and deck is installed
- Roof steel is beginning the first week of March
