Summit Construction Company was chosen as the General Trades Contractor for the Joseph J. and Helen M. Sommer Wildlife Conservation Center in Perry Township, Ohio. The Summit team was responsible for all aspects of construction for this brand new 9,405 SF facility and exterior enclosure for Stark Parks. The Park's previous rehabilitation center was a 2,000 SF building lacking amenities suitable for the caretakers and volunteers like restrooms and plentiful space.
The new building has 12 rooms including an animal clinic, a classroom, exhibition space and exam rooms for the animals. The additional square footage in the facility as well as in the exterior enclosures prevents overcrowding and unwanted interactions between species. The new conservation center has the space and resources it needs to provide excellent rehabilitative care as well as education through programs and events revolving around nature and wildlife.
