Summit was the General Trades Contractor including Site and building renovation for the Teays Valley School District. The High School is 126,000 square feet and the freshman building is 83,000 square feet. The existing building had structural issues which were not repaired in the original design.
Halifax anchors were added to tie the existing brick to the existing block on the entire building. Structural angles were added to tie the roof joists to the wall and angles were added to tie the tectum to the walls. Tectum was removed and new deck installed in the gymnasium, dining, and kitchen areas. Channels were added to crawl space joists under the Kitchen after we discovered the existing condition of the joists. The gymnasium wall was also removed and rebuilt.
Summit Construction was able to deliver a successful, completed project to Teays Valley High School despite of unforeseen conditions.
